What do you like about Owensboro? Low cost of living. Relatively safe and calm. Pretty laid-back. Nice sports organizations. With the Western KY Uni campus moving here soon, the town should grow, which would definitely help overall growth and the economy.
What do you dislike about Owensboro? Very conservative. Slow to change. Not very diverse, but it's getting better.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Different parks to choose from, the riverfront. The Riverpark Center. Friday After 5 during the summer.
How expensive is it? Cheap, but there are a couple more upscale restaurants
Is it safe? There is a drug problem, but what cities don't have one? Overall, it feels pretty safe.
How is the weather? Humid, notably in the summer. You may be disappointed if you like a lot of snow, but we do get all four seasons.
Additional thoughts? I've grown up in nearly every part Owensboro and really wish there were more things to do (it has improved, though!). It's not the most stimulating place for teenagers, you have to make your own fun. However, once you get to know the people and interact with the community, it can be very rewarding.
