What do you like about Macon? I love the Southern charm in the old houses, parks, restaurants, and churches. Many of the city's residents are proud and devoted to improving the lifestyle and image of the city, and I have seen the fruits of their endeavors in only the short four years I have lived there.
What do you dislike about Macon? Though parts of the city are in a state of change and hopefulness for the future, other parts seem pretty hopeless. The poverty and crime in much of South Macon is very self-perpetuating, and some of the public schools are among the worst in the nation.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Mercer's campus is always fun, as well as downtown and Vineville Ave. Also, if you are only going to be in town for a short while, be sure not to miss the Allman Brothers museum at the Big House.
How expensive is it? As far as gas and groceries, it is probably the cheapest place I have ever lived.
Is it safe? That depends heavily on where you are. Mercer's campus and North Macon, almost always. But on MU Drive, Eisenhower, and other parts of South Macon, tread with caution.
How is the weather? Mild, except I suppose summers can be hot if you didn't grow up in the South, accustomed to 95-100 degree days.
Additional thoughts? Macon is a great place to live if you are open-minded and willing to contribute to the revitalizing of a beautiful, historic city.

What do you like about Macon? I like all the trees and the nice architecture that is in parts of Macon. There is a Cherry Blossom Festival in March that has some interesting things.
What do you dislike about Macon? The public schools are terrible and the private schools are not much better. Racism is high in Macon among blacks and whites. There are almost no sidewalks and a very poor public transit system. Macon has both the highest amount of AIDS per capita in the United States and the highest amount of churches per capita in the United States. There seems to be an expectation in the black community of people to fail, I have friends that are made fun of because they speak correct English. There is a high teen pregnancy rate and not much help is given to those that get pregnant.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? The one mall, Barnes and Nobles, and AmStar movie theater.
How expensive is it? It is very cheap to live in Macon.
Is it safe? Some parts of Macon are safe but there is crime everywhere, just worse crime in some parts.
How is the weather? It is rather sporadic. There is almost no winter and both spring and fall seem short. Very hot. Lots of rain.
Additional thoughts? There are some good colleges in Macon but I would not recommend anyone move to Macon.
