What do you like about Fairbanks?: It is a city where individuality is accepted and actually taken pride in.
What do you dislike about Fairbanks?: It is a bit too small and isolated from other places.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?: The University.
How expensive is it?: Housing costs are high; fresh produce is high!
Is it safe?: Don't walk downtown at night. Don't insult any seedy looking people in bars.
How is the weather?: The winter is not so bad after you get used to it. The summer is lovely.
Additional thoughts?: Really the beauty of nature here is supreme; the arts community is very alive; there is a lot of unique research going on here at the University due to the special conditions of the Northern climate and cultural position--for example, in linguistics and biochemistry.

What do you like about Fairbanks? It still has that frontier town feeling, You can see mountians in any direction, the people are some of teh most freindly anywhere
What do you dislike about Fairbanks? That it is so far from anywhere else, Ancorage is 6 hours by car
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? DownTown, and outside of the city
How expensive is it? housing cost are very high unless you live in a cabin w/o water
Is it safe? Mostly, just don't go for a stroll at night in the bar area downtown.
How is the weather? The summer is beutiful, long days, the winters are not as bad as most imagiane, it is very dry with almost no wind during the winter, so the cold is not as bad as I have felt in the midwest
Additional thoughts? If you are a person who loves, to fish, hunt, hike, explore, raft, or climb, this is ABSOLUTELY your town
