What do you like about New Brunswick?
It is very conveniently located with regards to public transportation - right on the NE Corridor Line of NJ Transit, with many bus lines passing through the city. There are also many local outlets for the arts through Rutgers University (Livingston Theater Co., Mason Gross, Zimmerlie Art Gallery for example) and downtown (State Theater, for example)

What do you dislike about New Brunswick?
Its uneveness - parts are very nice and well-kept, others are dirty and unsafe.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
The university

How expensive is it?
Way too expensive for what it is. If I want to pay Manhattan prices for tiny living spaces, I'll just live in Manhattan.

Is it safe?
Not in the least.

How is the weather?
Fairly normal - lots of rain.

Additional thoughts?
I'd only recommend living here if you can afford decent housing. The average rent is not worth what you'll be paying for.

What do you like about New Brunswick?

It's got a city feel in the middle of suburbia. In many parts, especially around Easton Ave, it's incredibly walkable, with pretty much all the amenities you need nearby. There are lots of choices as far as bars and restaurants go, and it's a decently convenient train ride to New York.

What do you dislike about New Brunswick?
Around rush hour, the traffic can be pretty bad just to get anywhere. Outside of downtown and the Easton Ave area, it can be pretty run-down and sketchy. The houses are generally badly maintained, but there has been lots of new development around Rutgers that's bringing much better housing to the city.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
Easton Ave, George Street. Both are walkable, dense, and lots of fun

How expensive is it?
Rents are way overpriced. Bars and restaurants can be very reasonable though, depending on where you go.

Is it safe?
Moderately safe downtown and in the Rutgers areas, but not safe anywhere else.

How is the weather?
Not the best, I guess. Hot summers, cold, snowy winters.

Additional thoughts?
Can be a really fun town! It's a shame the rents downtown are so expensive or it could be even better.
