What do you like about Shreveport? It's very much an Art town. There's also a lot of diversity for a Southern town.
What do you dislike about Shreveport? Very stiffy
people, some think that if they say whatever they want in a nice way then it's ok, regardless of the nature.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Certain parts of Highland are nice, Broadmoor is also good.
How expensive is it? Land is cheap in the south.
Is it safe? Crime is going down, but it was high to begin with.
How is the weather? VERY hot in the summer, mild winters, lots of rain and cloudy days in spring and summer; when a hurricane develops in the gulf we may get rain and wind.
Additional thoughts? It's starting to boom and expand, which is great.

Shreveport is extremely artsy, including music and visual art. There are music co-ops and recording studios downtown, and a lot of great murals on buildings and bridges. Shreveport has a vibrant nightlife for any taste: hip hop clubs, popular clubs, electronica clubs, goth clubs, and youth clubs. The Shreveport symphony and opera are both worldclass, and Bossier City (across the Red River) has the Boardwalk shopping area.

Despite the "new wave" of Shreveport development, there is a lot of Southern old money in the city. In my experience, the old money stays to itself. Shreveport is an up-and-coming city with a lot of promise. I will probably return there to live before the end of my life.

For a city its size, Shreveport is extremely cheap, for buying or renting... but particularly buying.
