What do you like about Boulder? It is safe, the people are usually friendly and helpful. There are a lot of sports to do here and its really open here.
What do you dislike about Boulder? In some places (pearl street) there are a lot of homeless and druggie people who can get kind of scary at times. Also, people are very wealthy and things are expensive.

What do you like about Boulder?

Gorgeous weather and landscape. Good-looking, fit people, many of whom value knowledge and progess. Great bars and restaurants. Wide variety of shopping, from big corporate stand-bys like SoundTrak to fun little boutiques. Boulder is notoriously dog-friendly, with lots of hiking and greenways in and around town, making it very pedestrian and biker-friendly.

What do you dislike about Boulder?

The lack of ethnic diversity here is palpable, and too many residents seem to love and are eager to preserve it's lily whiteness. Over the past couple of years, this has manifested itself in a stupid and ugly manner, from people getting spit on on the University of Colorado campus, to being verbally abused and physically assulted both on and off campus for no reason other than having darker skin than the average resident. There was even a half-assed recruiting drive by the hate group National Vanguard on campus last year. So much for Boulder being a hotbed of liberalism. But for anyone believing in karma, take note that the CU Buffaloes have not won a single football game this season. Ha ha.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?

Anemone Hill, Anne U. White trail, Chautauqua Park, Boulder Creek, especially by the kayaking course near the central library - great for swimming on a hot summer day.

How expensive is it?

Very, almost as much as living in San Francisco or LA.

Is it safe?

Pretty much, although you will hear stories of college students who become the victims of crime after leaving their apartment/house door unlocked, invite strangers into their home to party, or staggering around town obviously intoxicated. Plus, problems like theft and sexual assault are unfortunate occurances in college towns.

How is the weather?

Beautiful, damn near perfect. Sunny almost every day. Never TOO hot or cold.

Additional thoughts?

Boulder is a wonderful place to live if you can afford a house or apartment located away from any concentration of students. Keep in mind that the average citizen is about 24 years old. So be prepared to feel geezery on a regular basis. The good thing is, it will inspire you to stay in shape, and you have one of the best settings in the world to do so just outside your door. If you are a person of color, I strongly encourage you to stay in Boulder and represent. People's minds cannot be changed without your help. You will get the occasional confused or angry look but be strong - the MAJORITY of Boulder residents are cool and intelligent, they are on your side. And to those of you who don't want them there? Go screw yourselves. There are still plenty of places in this country with nary a dark face to be seen. May I suggest rural Idaho?
