What do you like about San Jose? Lots of ethnic diversity. Great weather year-round. Good hiking / running / biking.

What do you dislike about San Jose? Huge rat race culture. Everyone is crabby all the time. Yuppie middle managers who think they\'re hot shit. Bullshit startups that want to be the next Facebook. No rivers or lakes. Highways everywhere. Pollution. Very expensive. Very selfish and toxic culture.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? South First St. Area (SoFA), Campbell, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Other various spots in the West Bay, and a couple random spots in the East Bay.

How expensive is it? Very expensive compared to anywhere else outside of the Bay Area. Pretty average for the Bay Area.

Is it safe? Most areas are safe enough, but there\'s lots of theft and pickpocketing. My bike almost got stolen in downtown SJ (came back to the lock 9/10 of the way cut through) and my wife\'s wallet got stolen. Both cases were in broad daylight. Lock up your stuff.

How is the weather? Overall great compared to the rest of the country. There\'s two or three seasons depending on how you split it. There\'s Dry Season which is in the summer. In Dry Season it\'s warm and sunny 7 days a week, and cools off at night. This is the longest season. Without water, all the plants turn brown and most of them die. Then it starts raining and gets cooler, which is the beginning of Wet Season. It\'s never cold enough to freeze. Sometimes the rain can get intense. Eventually the plants start growing again, and Wet Season gradually turns into Spring. THere\'s a sweet spot in Spring where everything is nice and green and at the same time it\'s warm and sunny.

Additional thoughts? If you\'re career-focused, educated, and are in some kind of tech, this is a decent place to build a career. There are jobs everywhere. But if you want to raise a family, or don\'t have a degree, or want a city with some actual culture, look elsewhere.

What do you like about San Jose? It is a nice city where many people live and come together. While it doesn't have anything necessarily famous, it can be a calm and pleasant place.
What do you dislike about San Jose? There is very little to do or of interest. The area is (for the most part) one giant suburbia.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Downtown San Jose is nice, as well as the Willow Glen area. Surrounding cities of Cupertino, Campbell, Sunnyvale, and Los Gatos have nice downtown areas. Additionally, if you want to do some expensive shopping, you can head to the European style Santana Row for a nice evening.
How expensive is it? Depending on the area, it will vary. The area I lived in is quite expensive, with most houses costing over $1,000,000.
Is it safe? For the most part, yes. There is some growing gang activity, but violence is not extremely common.
How is the weather? Beautiful! The weather is as good as it gets.
Additional thoughts? I've lived in the San Jose area my whole life. It isn't a bad place to live in. Do note however, the economy is on the decline, and it is a fairly plain place. Population is still increasing though, so the direction of the city could be for the worse.
