What do you like about Durham?
Great colleges nearby..such as Duke, and wonderful hospitals. After all..it is Durham..city of medicine.

What do you dislike about Durham?
Crime! Shootings everyday. Whites are in the minority in Durham..so there is a lot of racial crime...gangs...ect.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
Streets of Southpoint! HUGE mall..main upscale area in Durham. Beats out all the malls in nearby Raleigh.

How expensive is it?
Not to bad...considering I live in Cary now.

Is it safe?
Depends on the area..but generally..you don't want to be out too late.

How is the weather?
It's NC...hot one day, snow the next.

Additional thoughts?
Nearby Cary is 1000 times nicer. Cleaner..more educated...richer, ect.

What do you like about Durham?
The people are kind, easygoing, and creative. There's always tons of stuff to do, especially unconventional artistic happenings (as opposed to places that are heavy on museums but have no real artistic community). The city is big enough to have lots of stuff going on, but small enough not to have a lot of the problems of larger cities. And there are tons of great restaurants, which one can frequent a lot because you don't have to spend all your money on rent in order to live in a nice apartment or house.

What do you dislike about Durham?
It's too hot in the summers to be really active outside during the day. But that's the ONLY bad thing! And the seasons are mild for the rest of the year which allows you to have more time doing outdoors stuff than in colder climates.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
Downtown and 9th St. area.

How expensive is it?
A nice one-bedroom apartment will run you between $650 and $750.

Is it safe?

How is the weather?

Additional thoughts?
It's a lot more diverse than I would have expected. I used to live in Boston and Cambridge, and I was surprised to find that Durham is far less homogenous than either of those cities, in terms of both what people do and who they are.
