What do you like about San Marcos? "It's a drinking town with a college problem." I'm a student, and SM is wonderfully accomodating. The rivers, bars and people are all great.

What do you dislike about San Marcos? Some traffic problems since it is a small town, and the cops are incredibly harsh.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? There are endless numbers of apartments, and the closer you are to campus, the nicer it is. There's always a party going on somewhere, and the Square has plenty of good bars, restaurants and local live music.

How expensive is it? Again, very accomodating to poor college students. Not hard to find a cheap place to live, which is good considering it's very hard to find a well-paying job.

Is it safe? Very. I'm not at all scared to walk by myself at night.

How is the weather? Very hot and humid summers, though no tornados that I've seen. Fall, winter and spring are all mild and quite nice.

Additional thoughts? Small college town with easy access to Austin and San Antonio. Most students move to Austin after they graduate, but are quite happy to be here while they are. I personally love SM.
