What a laid back little town! Champaign has a vibrant downtown that isn't stuck-up... it is easy to get to know folks and be part of the scene, even if you're a thirty-something mother.
I've lived here off and on (mostly on in the past decade) and this is my home.

It's hard to write a good description of Champaign-Urbana. However, it is a Big 10 university town and therefore has a fun mix of people... liberal, conservative, american, foreign, and so on. Most folks you meet, however, are nice, humble and hard working... if you ask, you'll get good directions, a weather forecast and ideas about what to order at the restaurant you're going to.

As I was told a long time ago, you either love CU or you don't. I can make a lot of suggestions to help you tune in to our small city, but if you're an exurban type, then you probably don't want to com here.
