What do you like about Augusta?
Nothing really. My family is here thats it. i could say cheap gas but Bush took care of that.
What do you dislike about Augusta?
Well just about everything. I'm 19, and there is nothing for people 18-20 years old. NOTHING. If your between those ages, your screwed. Either go to Columbia or Atlanta every weekend. Plus the area is just so far right winged, its not funny. This town is ultra conservative, so if you have a diffrent opinion other then the Republican party, you can pretty much just turn around and walk away, for they will take you out back and throw bibles at you. Everything here is about race or color. And rebel flags wave like the state flag. Plus, the weather is horrid. Summers are just too humid and steamy. Youll learn to live with it, but still hate summers. The only good thing about summers is that Myrtle Beach is 3 hours away. The government here is also in debt like crazy, the school system in Richmond county is the worst in Georgia which intern is the worst in the USA as Georgia is dead last. People here are just plain dumb. The crime isnt bad, but it isnt good either. This place is just too much of a southern baptist hick town for me.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? I like downtown alot. I really like the houses is Olde Town, downtown, but crime is really high down there so I wouldnt look to live there. I like to hang out in Evans, as that is the richer part of town.
How expensive is it? It's pretty cheap. There isn't really any reason for anyone who makes over $500k a year to live here, as we have nothing that is upscale (restraunts, designer stores, tourist attractions...etc)
Is it safe? Some what safer then Atlanta. My hometown was alittle bigger then this city and they havn't had a murder in 3 yrs. This is not the case with Augusta (the city is Ann Arbor, MI).
How is the weather? Pretty much hot throughout most of the year. It can vary. It was like 71 degrees on x-mas day a couple years ago. But its brisk from november to maybe march. I've known it to get hot as hell in March.
Additional thoughts? Its a pretty crappy city. If your looking to go school here or something, look towards Athens, or Clemson or even Ann Arbor, because going to Augusta State or another college around here would be one sad college experiance. Its an ok town to retire in. Lots and lots of golf. But if you have teenagers, look elsware. Because I know I am looking to get far far away from this hick town. Its embarrassing to live in Augusta most of the times. Sorry, but this is the areas fault as they dont try to attract new people to the area at all. If you have to live here , tho, I reccoment the Evans area. Best schools in the area and the nicest part of town by far.

Augusta is a very calm city, not so much quiet, but relatively lazy. It's one of those sorts of towns where a person can get to just about anywhere in town within a 25-minute drive, but it is by no means rural. Augusta is just a small city bursting at the seams.

The city is split between an unchanged "Southern mentality" and the intellectualism of doctors and engineers. I wouldn't say it's a "stupid" city, but it still not very liberal in thought nor in the selection of things to do. Augusta does have quite a few artistic venues, which isn't shameful for a city its size.

Usually, the weather in Augusta is sunny. It's sweltering in the middle of summer and lightly crisp in the winter. It snows in Augusta probably about once every four years. At worst, the winter weather is a bit cool and crisp, but the summers are what the typical Augustan must watch out for. The city is very humid, so sweat just builds up on one's forehead if he spends more than a few minutes outside.

Overall, Augusta isn't a bad city; it's suburban and comfortable. It's one of those cities that people either love or hate: It's either too calm or just right.
