Do not move here, it is overrated for sure. How US News rated it number 2 in affordability and quality of life is beyond me. Obviously, they do not live here. For starters, it is dirty, boring, expensive and there is no culture. The only thing here of beauty is Pikes Peak and it will not pay the bills. I would say 3/4 of the city is poor. Most homeowners have no pride in ownership. They are rundown, need updating, but refuse to put money into their home. There are very few lawns because of the climate. Everything is fried by the intense sun so rarely is there any greenery. Difficult to grow anything and the environment is brown and dirty. If there is a car accident, prepare yourself because they leave the debris in the road and eventually with moving traffic it is broken down and spread over the road. I have never seen anything like it in all the places I have lived. I have seen huge pieces of glass and bumpers from cars left behind. Drivers have no clue what the rules of the road are. You MUST drive defensively and expect the worst to protect yourself. Managers in large companies have told employees when asked for a raise to look at the mountain because that is their bonus. How insane is that? The biggest mistake of my life was moving here so I want to prevent others from this disaster. It is a dump, there is litter everywhere, where is the quality of life when all there is to do is climb a mountain or bike ride? Oh, and God forbid there is snow. The terrain is hilly and mountainous so you would think the plows would be out to plow and sand the roads early for the commute. That is a joke, there were 70 accidents in one small area one morning because they did not plow or sand and cars slid down the hill into each other. I have never seen anything like it. The city is do cheap, they do not care about safety. Golf ball size hail hit my 6 month old car causing $10,000 in damages. And people are taught in school to say acrossed instead of across, now how ignorant is that??? Most of the natives speak this way. Housing is at an all time premium and who can really afford it when employers are so cheap? You have to come here with a great deal of money and for what? It is the most boring place on earth and so is the food. I am from the northeast and cannot wait to get out of here. Stay where you are, you will be better off.

What do you like about Colorado Springs? It was a very tight knit community and once you got into a clique of people, they treat you like family. Everyone knows everyone and it really helps with getting around and having a social life. The theatre scene is pretty big and once you have a car, your parents really don't have much say on what you do here because if you know people everything is free.

What do you dislike about Colorado Springs? Getting into the community is really hard because everyone here has known each other since they were born practically. There's so much homeless people, oh my god like lock your car doors always because they will steal anything out of your car. They stole my pennies. There's also a lot of drug influence. My next door neighbors had to be arrested cuz they were making meth and I lived right beside a police department so.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? I love Manitou so much, it's so artsy and there's hippies everywhere. It has so many places to eat and so many different walks of life. The GoodWills in this town are so good like the best GoodWills ever. The one in downtown Manitou is small, but it's better than the one on Circle, trust me.

How expensive is it? Manitou is pretty expensive because of all the tourists, but food is alright prices and none of them are ridiculous. Even downtown has pretty acceptable prices. I don't really know about the shopping because I really just like thrifting. Antique stores are crazy expensive though, but it's the same stuff at GoodWill like idgi.

Is it safe? It is if you lock your doors and have a good security system. I didn't have a security system, but it was okay. I knew some people in Broadmoor Bluffs who's house was broken into. In Skyway it's like a daily thing though like I honestly would never live in Skyway. It's really gorgeous, but I know probably ten people who live there and their house has been broken into like no thank you.

How is the weather? The winters suck cuz your hair gets so dry it starts to become static-y and that's like insanely annoying. The summers are 80 degrees with zero humidity, but make sure you get up early cuz it rains like daily at 12-2 and it's like heavy heavy rain and it closes all the pools. I love the rain though and honestly, I don't think it's ever warm enough to swim here. It's like when you come out of the water you stick your entire body into a freezer.

Additional thoughts? I'm never moving back here again, but I'm glad I did.
