What do you like about Memphis?
Memphis is a laid back, friendly city. There are a lot of unique things about Memphis, there is a lot of history here.
What do you dislike about Memphis? This city could be more progressive in it's thinking. Needs better leaders. Too many people run to the suburbs and complain about Memphis, instead of staying within the city and trying to make it better. Some neighborhoods are being revitalized, but a lot are still blighted, neglected.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Mid-Town, Downtown.
How expensive is it? Not very.
Is it safe? Crime is a big problem here. Make sure you don't go to certain neighborhoods, watch your back. I feel safe in my neighborhood, but you always need to be aware. Most of the suburbs are safe.
How is the weather? 4 distinct seasons. Summer is hot, hot, hot, too humid. Autumn and spring are beautiful.
Additional thoughts? If you are looking for a shiny, plastic city, Memphis is not for you. Memphis is the kind of city you have to look at closely to appreciate.

What do you like about Memphis? The city is laid out very nicely; you can usually get to where you want to go in 20 minutes or less. There is usually something to do downtown--we have plently of movie theaters and small venues where bands play nightly.
What do you dislike about Memphis? The crime is horrible and the population is mostly made up of unprofessional types. Poverty is a big problem despite our liberal local government (which is very corrupt. Fords and King Willie, anyone?).
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Downtown/Midtown.
How expensive is it? It's pretty inexpensive compared to the rest of the country.
Is it safe? No. I think the Federal government posted a list of some of the most dangerous cities to live in, and we were ranked #5 in the nation.
How is the weather?
