The people in Charleston are rude and unhelpful. Lots of crime in North Charleston and they only clean downtown up for tourist season. The rest of the year you will find crack addicts on the side of the road. People getting shot and killed in grocery store parking lots. The people seem to be illiterate here. I guess that explains why they have no manners, they never learned them. The school systems are poor and do not instill good values. People are very racist. The whites/blacks do not get along.

Charleston is a wonderful place, and it knows it-- it's kind of an egocentric city. I find the people of Charleston very friendly, I guess it just depends on where you've lived before. The weather is amazing, except perhaps for the humid summertime, the environment is incredible-- water everywhere and beautiful buildings downtown.
One of the best places in the US I've lived.
That said, the school systems do stink, but such is South Carolina.
