What do you like about Portland? the summers are spectacular and the downtown area is very clean. Street parade on alberta is neat
What do you dislike about Portland? Many of the people here are fascists, older people act like they know everything, and they don't use salt when there's an ice storm (don't ask me why)
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Hawthorne is cool for hippies and the small theatres are the coolest i've ever seen (baghdad theatre and kennedy school)
How expensive is it? CHEAP!!!
Is it safe? Any where in Portland is safe, don't believe people when they say North Portland is bad
How is the weather? Great except for the 6 months of rain. If you don't like rain for extended periods of time, don't come here
Additional thoughts? If you are a rational individual with no political identifications, don't come here.

What do you like about Portland? Everyone's so kind, and the arts are incredible! There's always loads to do and you hardly ever feel shunned or judged. The food, shopping, and public transportation are AMAZING.
What do you dislike about Portland? RAIN. Good GOD, RAIN. It seems like all it ever does here is rain. Also, I could see how a politically conservative person could feel out of sorts here: it's obviously a liberal town. The public school system has pretty much hit rock-bottom; if you want a good education you have to be careful. There are lots of really excellent private schools outside of town, and public high schools like Lincoln (in the Northwest) are decent.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? I love Hawthorne and 23rd for the shopping, and all of Downtown is pretty awesome. There are awesome apartments all over, but the best houses are in Northwest: they're really gorgeous!
How expensive is it? Well, there's no sales tax, which rocks, but gas is pretty much soaring these days. Couldn't tell you what it's like in comparison to other cities, but we're talking $3.80 and up. Cost of living is so-so; better than most, but still not the cheapest.
Is it safe? Most of the time. I've been wandering around town alone since I was twelve, and I've never encountered real trouble. Sure, people hit on you, but you live with it. I feel safe walking at night, as long as I'm not on Burnside or parts of the East Side.
How is the weather? Ehhh, not so good. It's rainy and cool from around mid-October to maybe late April or mid-May. But other than that, it's really nice. Recently, we've had some really mild winters, especially this last one.
Additional thoughts? Typical east-coast preppies aren't gonna like it; Portland's steeped in counter-culture. Traffic can be pretty crappy. Plenty of stuff to do for people of all ages.
