What do you like about Charlotte? Lovely weather, a growing city, beautifully developing skyline downtown.

What do you dislike about Charlotte? The people for one. For the most part, they're pretty conservative, materialistic, and religious. There also seems to be a lack of entertainment, the CMS school system is absolutely pathetic, and the streets. Quite a bit of traffic during rush hour. Oh, and the infestation of illegal immigrants. They're awful here.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? The Plaza-Midwood area is quite lovely! Very artistic and historical. Tremont Music Hall, all Single Cell Productions, the downtown area in general. Etc. etc.

How expensive is it? Moderate. It really depends on where in Charlotte. Some of the housing/retail goes wayyy up or pretty low.
Is it safe? Meh. I wouldn't recommend walking the streets alone here, i'll say that.

How is the weather? The summers can be just a little TOO hot at times and oh-so-humid, Spring and Fall are absolutely gorgeous and winter not too bad either. There's an occassional dusting of snow but nothing over a foot.

Additional thoughts?
Charlotte has it's ups and downs, just like any other city. . .but it does have plenty of room for improvement.

What do you like about Charlotte? Not much, it's crime rate is extremely high, the schools are horrible, people are rude. The small art community is over run by yuppies.
What do you dislike about Charlotte? pretty much everything.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Central Ave and Thomas. NoDa Art District.
How expensive is it? Extremely expensive!
Is it safe? NO! We were nearly caught in the middle of an all out shoot out between a gun man and the police a couple months ago, in broad day light on a main hwy.
How is the weather? Nice!
Additional thoughts? Most the decent areas are being over run by Yuppies, the Artists that make the few areas unique and interesting are being run out by the rich and snobby whose only concern is to take over everything and jack prices up to unrealistic prices. The few Art Galleries in NoDa cater to only the rich, and there's really not much to do here. The School system in Charlotte is a JOKE! The city is dangerous and unsafe.
