What do you like about New York City?
Its history and the wide variety of things to do. The huge amount of cultural outlets.

What do you dislike about New York City?
Crowds and tourists, the Times Square Area (for that reason)

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
The West Village, Alphabet City, Lincoln Center, Washington Heights, Innwood, Museum Mile (this is just Manhattan)

How expensive is it?
It depends. It's pricey, but it's a city. Some things are absolutely ridiculous, but sometimes you can find a good deal.

Is it safe?
Depends on the area, but I've never really felt unsafe, and I've been everywhere, many different times of the day.

How is the weather?
Decent, but too hot in Summers.

Additional thoughts?
I'm planning on relocating there within five years. There's truly no place like New York. It's a phenomenon on its own.

What do you like about New York City? The fact that no matter where you are, you're part of your own community, so you do have that--but all the same, there are a million other communities to explore and a million other things and people and places that will be new to you when you discover them. It's so ridiculously alive here--more full of life than any other place I've been.
What do you dislike about New York City? I have no idea. Sometimes it's a bit overwhelming, that's probably what I like least.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Brooklyn and Manhattan. I especially love Broadway, Park Slope, and a coffeeshop on Lincoln (in Brooklyn) called K-Dog and Dunebuggy.
How expensive is it? Either extremely expensive or extremely cheap. You just have to be tuned in correctly.
Is it safe? Much more so than people think. Still, not the safest city in the world.
How is the weather? The seasons are clearly different. Fall and Spring are very pleasant. It can snow in the winter; we've had blizzards.
Additional thoughts? I love living here. It's so ridiculously diverse and there are a million different sorts of communities--at the moment there's no category for different boroughs, so I'll add that Manhattan is the bustlingest and Brooklyn is the coffee-shop-cool-est. I don't go into the other boroughs a lot, but you don't have to be in any borough a lot to realize that each one is unique.
