What do you like about St. Louis? STL is small enough that one isn't overwhelmed by its scale or population. It is just barely large enough to hide in, though.
What do you dislike about St. Louis? St. Louis is always a little behind the times, and not in a charming way.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Central West End/run down parts of Downtown/Grand
How expensive is it? St. Louis is quite a bit cheaper than other semi-urban areas. Gas and food are cheaper in STL than in the surrounding suburbs.
Is it safe? Relatively safe as it is easy to navigate (easy to avoid "undesirable (???)" neighborhoods).
How is the weather? Summers suck. The rest of the year is sufficently crisp.
Additional thoughts? St. Louis needs a makeover. All there really is to do is eat and get drunk, but I appreciate this.

What do you like about St. Louis? It's got a lot of character and culture. It's a great size; you can go anywhere and see someone you know, but it's big enough that you can avoid them if you want to. Everyone's really friendly and there's a TON of civic pride, especially in the past 10 years during the urban renewal. People are the realest. Always something going on. For a Midwestern city, beautiful architecture and lots of history. A little southern charm as well. Within a few hundred miles from several major cities if you ever want to road trip.
What do you dislike about St. Louis? Its undeserved bad reputation in some areas.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? CWE, Landing, Westport, U City
How expensive is it? Not
Is it safe? As any other city, despite the skewed statistics.
How is the weather? Summers are miserable. So humid you have to drive with your wipers on. Winters are moderate and even a bit depressing given that everything is gray but there's not a lot of snow. So don't expect a white Christmas. Fall and spring last for about a week. Then it's on to the blistering heat/cold.
Additional thoughts? Really an underrated city that's come a LONG way in the past 10 years. The residents are fiercely loyal. I've been a lot of places, but STL will always be home.
