What do you like about Minneapolis?

There is always something to do here. Minneapolis is full of beautiful lakes.

What do you dislike about Minneapolis?

Winters are no fun. It gets cold!

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?

Nicollet Mall, Uptown

How expensive is it?

Expensive by Midwestern standards; cheaper than coastal areas.

Is it safe?

Mostly. North Minneapolis has its share of senseless crime; however, there really is no reason to go there. There is nothing to do in North Minneapolis. Philips neighborhood in South Minneapolis(roughly between Lake and Franklin, east of 35W, west of Hiawatha Avenue) is improving, but still does have some crime. The rest of the city is just fine.

How is the weather?

Couldn't ask for better Summers; couldn't ask for worse Winters.

What do you like about Minneapolis?
I love all of the cultural opportunities available (theater, art, music, etc). I like downtown, I love the diversity of the city, the history of the different areas of Mpls, the beauty of the Mississippi, all of the great parks available, people are generally liberal, tolerant and progressive...etc, etc! There really are many positive attributes I could list!

What do you dislike about Minneapolis?
I don't care for the extreme weather--very cold temperatures in winter and quite hot and humid in the summer. People tend not to be too open to new friends and prefer hanging out with the same crowd. Often you will encounter people with an outward superficial politeness and passive-aggressive attitude (aka Minnesota Nice).

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
There is something that I love about every part of town--I love downtown, uptown, northeast, southeast, south...there are great things available all over, if you choose to seek it.

How expensive is it? Fairly moderate compared with other similar places. Housing prices have been through the roof, until recently, but that is in line with the nationwide trend.

Is it safe?
Generally yes, although that could change if we don't get a handle on some rising trends in crime and add more police.

Additional thoughts?
Try it, you might like it! Come for a visit in the spring or fall and check it out for yourself!
