What do you like about Minneapolis? I love everything about Minneapolis. It is such a great city and so underrated, which I am thankful for because I don't want a bunch of people coming here and ruining it! It's the perfect size-not a tiny Midwestern town (like people think it is) and not a gigantic metropolis. There is so much culture here-great theater, orchestras, local music scene. The politics are liberal, which I really like, especially being in the Midwest which tends to be conservative.
What do you dislike about Minneapolis? Too much road construction in the summer, you can never count on your route being open.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Uptown is great, I love seeing shows there and walking around. The lakes are also great-so nice in the summer. First Ave is a great place to see a show. Dinkytown is tons of fun if you are a college student like me, but it can get rowdy on weekend nights. And the U of M always has so many things going on.
How expensive is it? I am still living in a dorm so I can't really answer this.
Is it safe? North Minneapolis is bad, and some neighborhoods in South Minneapolis (Philips, Powderhorn) are bad too but the rest of the city is pretty safe. I do not feel unsafe on campus.
How is the weather? The summers are amazing here. Truly worth the winter. I love the snow and cold, but many people don't.
Additional thoughts? Born and raised here and I love it.
