What do you like about Boston? Lots to do from museums, boat/whale watch tours, freedom trail, visit the many universities, tons of bars, and restaurants. Shopping everywhere downtown. Public transportation (the T) goes everywhere in and around the city. Beaches in the area can be decent place to lay out in summer. Diverse.
What do you dislike about Boston? Stereotypical driving situation.. Car horns blarring and aggresive drivers.. Take public tran instead. Not as friendly as the southeast, but for the most part people have common courtesy.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Anywhere downtown, Cambridge, Quincy Market, Back Bay.
How expensive is it? Pricey! You get what you pay for, but yes it is expensive.
Is it safe? For a big city it is. Very segregated with bad areas being Roxbury and Dorchester which are not directy downtown. No gold chain wearning gangstas like the south :)
How is the weather? Nice summers and cold winters
Additional thoughts?
Aweseme city. Respect the people and they shall respect you.

What do you like about Boston?
Very walkable, exciting, intellectual. Many ideas, a lot of diversity if you're willing to ride the trains to different neighborhoods. If you reach out to people, you can learn a lot about the city.

What do you dislike about Boston?
Racism and segregation. People joke about it here: as white as lexington, as black as roxbury; really though, it's terrible. Everyone knows about it, no one talks about it.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
Davis Squ., Somerville; Downtown; Harvard & Kendall Squ., Cambridge; most of the campuses.

How expensive is it?
A little pricey, but if you look around, you can make it work. ride the T. Shop at the Garment District. Go to trader joes at 9:00, get free stuff at the door.
Is it safe?

How is the weather?
Best weather anywhere. You can never predict! Snows in April, 100 deg. in November. If you live to be surprised, you'll love it here.

Additional thoughts?
Other folks wrote that we're stuck in our ways, but in terms of technology, Boston is the city of the future. In terms of thinking, if the status quo works, why change? We've got problems, sure, but we're working on it. Most of the time the city works well for people. We do what works. Maybe we're stuck up, but you would be to if your city was this great. jk
