What do you like about Baltimore?

Baltimore has a history. It's not trendy. It's affordable. It's close to other, more glamorous cities.

What do you dislike about Baltimore?

Public transportation and traffic both suck, so I spend too much time in my car. You have to travel to one of those other, more glamorous cities if you want to really experience great culture. People are pretty rude to each other here.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?

Living: own in Hamilton, rent in Charles Village. Hanging out: Hampden, Mt. Vernon, Fells Point. Some people like Federal Hill but it's too yuppieish IMO.

How expensive is it?

For a Northeastern city, it's very cheap.

Is it safe?

Not particularly, but if you don't walk alone and have a secured home and car, you'll be fine. I've never had a problem other than getting my car stereo taken a few years ago.

How is the weather?

Frankly, it's awful. Long, cold, gray winters and long, hot, hazy summers with briefly pleasant springs and falls in between.

Additional thoughts?

It's not for everyone, but I have always felt that Baltimore has a lot of potential. If young people would only move into this town, we could bring it to life.

What do you like about Baltimore?
It's multi-cultural and very diverse. There are people residing here from all over the world. I find the various communities to be quite charming. It's very historical - and, artistically and musically, there's always lots to do and see. Everyone gets along and people are easygoing and friendly. We have THE BEST crabcakes!

What do you dislike about Baltimore?
The smog, the humidity in summer, and TOO much traffic! The jazz scene needs to be revived!

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
Mt. Vernon, Charles Village, Northwest Baltimore, Canton area, the inner harbor. The architecture in Mt. Vernon is phenomenal.

How expensive is it?
Very reasonable.

Is it safe?
Very, as long as you don't venture into the seedy areas.

How is the weather?
Great for the most part - but it gets very humid in the summer; fortunately there's been very little snow the past few winters.

Additional thoughts?
It's a great city with great people and lots of flavor: art, history, music, museums, and culture.
