What do you like about New Orleans? I love the great food (often very cheap), no open container laws, the street car which is cheap, festive atmosphere, friendly people of the city, pride, man I have never seen so much pride in a city, and rich history
throughout the city.

What do you dislike about New Orleans? The crime here is out of control. Even a professor was recently carjacked outside the school. Corruption in government is also rampant. I recently registered my car here and I had to pay $450 in cash or money order. Hmmm I wonder whose pocket it goes to? Also the "brake tags" are a joke and actually bartered with the guy performing it. There is also no where to swim without exposing oneself to carcinogens in the water. The populace is also not the most intellectual.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Uptown, Magazine St., the Quarter, Marigny (Dectaur & Frenchmen Streets)

How expensive is it? More so post-Katrina, but it's very reasonable for a city even living in the better parts.

Is it safe? Ha ha ha...No. I haven't personally been a victim of crime but I came close. Also the university police reports have many incidents of armed robbery around the campus.

How is the weather? Extremely hot and humid during the summer but the trade off is wonderful weather the rest of the year. I haven't experienced a hurricane so I can't comment to that.

Additional thoughts? Just a wonderful city in so many categories, and yet just so many problems in other. I guess like anywhere else there are ups and downs. Still, it one of the best cities I have ever come across in my many travels.
