I lived in Fort Wayne all my life, then decided to move to Jacksonville FL because of a very bad job market with no opportunities and low pay. Also note, when I sold my house I lost 7k because the housing market is so horrible in Fort Wayne. I lived in Jacksonville for awhile, and although I didn't really like it because it was too big the opportunities were very large. Anyways, we decided to move back to Fort Wayne a year ago, and that was the biggest mistake ever. My husband and I both have college degrees, his being in Computer Science. There are absoulutely no job opportunities in Fort Wayne for that field, we have been in FOrt Wayne a year and he is still unemployed. Me on the other hand, I am in Business so I got a job but the pay is very low 25k, and I am a high level admin with a degree. Anyways, Fort Wayne also lacks any entertainment, unless you bowl, or like to watch movies. THe population is also overweight because it is the "City of Resturants" and there is only 3 months of good weather to get outside and do anything. To sum it up, don't move here. If you are lucky enough to get a job you will probably get laid off like everyone else and be stuck in forclosure on your house. For me.....I am off to Tampa, well Brandon (Suburb)were they have nice weather, jobs and fun stuff to do. Sure the houses cost more, but it's worth it and you don't have to pay state taxes. in Feb. Best of Luck!

What do you like about Fort Wayne? I like that Fort Wayne has a small town flair with many of the benefits of a larger city. I also like how the people are nice around here.
What do you dislike about Fort Wayne? I don't like how all night life requires drinking, whether legal or not.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? I probably spend more time at the malls (either one) than anywhere else. If I couldn't choose there, I would say the coolest features are Coney Island and the ice rink that's put up in the winter.
How expensive is it? Fort Wayne is cheap, but gas is higher than most of the state.
Is it safe? Very
How is the weather? Midwestern? What else is there to say? It's always cloudy in March.
Additional thoughts? Fort Wayne is very conservative, but has tendencies to be very liberal on some parts. For example, the Catholic bishop of the area was kicked out the archdiocease of Boston for speaking out against the sex scandal about 20 years or so ago. But then, you have solid Bush country. Kind of confused of its own identity, but proud to be Fort Fun nonetheless.
