What do you like about Orlando? I'ts a medium sized city. Diverse population. UCF. In driving distance to the beach but not in the wake of hurricanes.
What do you dislike about Orlando? not enough intellectuals. Mostly lacking artistic people. Ghetto in some parts. Too dressed down--there's no where to go to get dressed up for except the clubs which I never go to because they're for ghetto people. Theme parks are boring after the first time. Not a mature city. No culture. Superficial.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Winter Park. Waterford Lakes Mall. Jay Blanchard Park. I try to find the clean and beautiful places in this cement jungle.
How expensive is it? Expensive housing market. Not enough professional jobs. Cost of living is average but the comparable income hasn't risen much.
Is it safe? in the suburbs. Stay away from Pinehills. It's almost impossible to get away from the ghetto people. You'll find them everywhere. Many transients and losers so lock those doors!
How is the weather? hot and humid most of the year about 80 F. The winters are drier and cool about 65 F. Oh, and hurricanes, but no where as bad as living on the coast.
Additional thoughts? Surprisingly, for a such a racially diverse community, it's still a de facto segregated society in some places. Sequestered away in the very affluent parts of the suburbs, you find mostly white people. The middle class you'll find asians, hispanics, and whites. The lowest income group in Orlando are hispanics and blacks unfortunately. This is my observation from living here all my life (from the perspective of a white/asian middle class suburbanite).
