What do you like about Orlando? A real city close to the beach
What do you dislike about Orlando? Not much interesting stuff to do. There's a lot of entertainment, but it's all just really a bunch of clubs, bars, tourist attractions and chain restaurants (which are fun for visitors or people in school, but get old when you live there 24/7)
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? As far away from I drive as possible! There are nice local places, but you have to look really hard.
How expensive is it? Rent is pretty high, other than that it's not that bad.
Is it safe? It's not so bad for a city this size.
How is the weather? It's pretty decent except for may-september
Additional thoughts? It's cool place to live for a while, but there's not really any good jobs, and it's mostly tourists, transient theme park workers, and college students (which makes the local scene kind of suck). Also disney and universal have a way of killing anything cool in the city that they can't make money off of. It's kind of funny if you can laugh at it, but I wouldn't want to have a family here.

What do you like about Orlando?
-- It is central Florida which means you have easy access to the coast and when hurricanes hit here it's not as bad as other Florida cities. Lots of things to do. Lots of entertainment and it can be a little overwhelming at first but still fun. Also very diverse place. People come from all over the world here, so you meet a lot of foreigners and great place to network.
What do you dislike about Orlando?
-- It seems like there is a lack of education in the area.. I don't know, maybe because there are so many foreign people who work here for little pay and although they may speak 2 languages, they are not as competetive as in some other cities I have lived in. Also, downtown is nice, but I think the city can do a better job in beautifying itself. Some days I see litter everywhere here.. again, thanks to the many hispanics who bring these customs from their own country.. And don't get mad. I am Puerto Rican myself and I know this as a FACT. Visit Puerto Rico and go see the trash in the cities and on the beaches.. It's unfortunate they are bringing it here now. Also there are no real historic areas in Orlando. It seems like everything has been constructed in the last 30 years, which has covered the history in this place.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
-- Kissimmee area and surrounding areas have a lot to offer. The theme parks are cool. And check out some of the museums here.
How expensive is it?
-- It's expensive. I've only been here a year and I keep hearing how real estate in the last 10 years here has risen over +150% while job salaries have only risen 40%. That is bad news for people wanting to buy here. But as far as cost of food, gas, entertainment, and retail, it is pretty affordable and compares with most other cities.
Is it safe?
-- Seems like a safe place, but the worst thing here is that the drivers are not safe at all. Again thanks to crazy hispanics that bring their driving customs here.. There are countless accidents, wreckless drivers, and I have seen some of the worst driving here ever. I have lived in NYC, San Antonio TX, San Juan, PR, Raleigh and Charlotte NC and this place is the most unsafe place to drive. The state of Florida needs to really start enforcing that all drivers here drive WITH insurance and that ALL vehicles pass inspection. They have this stupid "no fault" policy when accidents happen here.. How patheticly stupid is that?? Reminds me of when I lived in San Juan PR.
How is the weather?
-- weather is great. I like having warm, sunny days most of the year. It gets hot here, but that's what being in Florida is about. All part of the experience. I would rather be in sunny Florida than be freezing my balls off in Alaska.
-- Orlando and the surrounding areas are in a transition right now. They have all their wheels coming together in hopefully becoming a major metropolitan city that could surpass Tampa and Jacksonville Fl, but unfortunately this is also a place that relies heavily on tourism for its economy. This city needs people who will let the city rise up and become bigger than Disney World and Universal Studios.
