What do you like about Miami? That America is just an hour North.
What do you dislike about Miami? It has been completely overtaken by non-legal residents and culturally no longer resembless the USA AT ALL. The common courteousies exchanged among strangers in person, or in traffic do not exist here. I've witnessed 4 major accidents and almost been killed so many times by out of control people in dump trucks, SUVs and punks in those whiney cars. MAKE SURE YOUR INSURANCE IS UP TO DATE. Miami is in the top 5 cities for insurance fraud. Desperate people from the third world will not pass up an opportunity to take your money in a claim. Have AT LEAST 25k in liability.
What is your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? There are many nice places, but you have to be wealthy to enjoy them and isolate yourself from the ghetto areas. Miami is very stratified into "haves" and "have-nots".
How expensive is it? If you want to live away from the bad areas and ghetto people, you have to pay AT LEAST $1100 (US) for a one bedroom, no garage. Anything less and you'll have a loud family of 8 in the one-bedroom Apt nextdoor to you.
Is it safe? Crime is high and very random. There are no safe neighborhoods like other US cities. In other places you can just avoid the bad hoods, but not here. The first week I arrived...May 05...there was a 2-day gun battle in Opa-Loca. STAY AWAY FROM OPA LOCA, HIALEAH, NORTH MIAMI, et al.
How is the weather? Continuous, unpredictable, heavy tropical rains for most of the year. Most locals don't wear raincoats because its so hot and humid. If you get caught in the rain, wait 10 minutes and the blisteing sun comes out to dry off your cloths.
Additional thoughts? There are so many wonderful cities in the US that you can visit besides Miami. A visit here could end in a tragic car accident, rape, mugging, etc. It's not worth it. (Just watch US national new or FOX TV...the car chases, bank robberies, gas station stick-ups, etc are all in the Miami-Dade, Broward County. Last point: if you are really rich you can just drive your big lexus/BMW SUV from one parking garage to another and back to the fenced/moted resort and not have to worry about crime. (I am truly not spitefull against this city; my comments are accurate and I want folks to know how things are).
