What do you like about Fresno?
It has nice colleges and universities for schooling. There are good shopping bargains. Reclaimed/fixer upper homes can be a bargain.

What do you dislike about Fresno?
Fresno had become a sprawling metropolis with inadequate community green space. The museums are exquisite but they need investment.
The city planners are entrenched in the development game and home prices have soared- even modest apartments are being converted to condominiums. This is squeezing the middle class, and especially the poor, into lifelong debt while the rich, of course, are getting richer. This tends to exacerbate all kinds of tensions, especially confusing class and race, since many of the so-called wealthy are confined to the government service sectors.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
I used to like downtown and still do. It has a charming outdoor mall, with artistic award-winning sculptures. The city has spent money on new attractive ball stadium, buildings. There are also new public ball parks being built.

How expensive is it?
Shopping is very reasonable. There are farmers markets in the city, and especially in the rural areas.

Is it safe?
Basically it is pretty safe. Honesty and friendliness are diminishing, but it depends on the individual. There is a limited mindset for relaxed sharing of good quality conversation.

How is the weather?
The weather is hot to the point of unpleasant in the summer, however the rest of the year its mild and ideal.

Additional thoughts?
People wouldn't have to worry about escaping the heat if there was more culture in Fresno. The culture, to be blunt, is mostly second-rate because people are "afraid to be artistic" as if that were liberalism itself. Thus the number and selections induce asphyxiation in me.

What do you like about Fresno? It's pretty cheap to live here and it's easy to become part of a community.
What do you dislike about Fresno? red necks, tea party mindset, people here mistake not questioning authority as a sign of intelligence.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Woodward Park. Visit friends south of Herndon.
How expensive is it? Pretty cheap
Is it safe? depends where you are
How is the weather? too hot or too cold but it's workable
Additional thoughts? This is California's answer to the South. It has the feeling of the movie "Mississippi Burning". Lots of right wing talk radio and radio shows with Protestant preachers masking political views as morality. It's pretty racist but if you call people on it they get really worried since no one here calls then on it.
