What do you like about Santa Barbara?: Nearly perfect weather year-round, tons of outdoor activities, great restaurants. has museum, ballet, opera, symphony.
What do you dislike about Santa Barbara?: the cost, can be hard to find a niche where you "fit in", hard for the 30-something crowd (for work/things to do), can be a bit too sleepy of a town.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Downtown, butterfly beach, ll the beaches, Montecito.
How expensive is it? Insane. We pay nearly $2000.00 for a 2 very small 2 bedroom downtown with the tiniest 1 bathroom ever. Almost no storage, no yard, no garage. Crazy.
Is it safe? Very but some of the Milpas area is not safe.
How is the weather? Flawless most of the year. It is what has kept us here despite the cost.
Additional thoughts? My guess is that to live "comfortably", you really need at least $100,000.00 a year household income. You will feel like you are struggling alot here without a good income.

What do you dislike about Santa Barbara? People are not friendly and there isn't a whole lot to do here.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Downtown is the best place to live. People that live in Santa Barbara don't really hang out.
How expensive is it? Absurdly expensive.
Is it safe? There is very little crime--we don't lock the doors to our house.
How is the weather? Great, but colder than most people would think.
Additional thoughts? The newly wed and the nearly dead.
