What do you like about San Francisco? - EVERYTHING but the current mayor and his hypocritical campaign against substance users, being himself an alcoholic...I love the overall "metrogeist" or spirit-of-the-City, the feeling there are urban ley-lines with much energy. The diverse cultures, and countercultures - that means ethnic, transgressive, experimental and "straight" all live here. That it is a "single renter"-friendly place despite current efforts against this.

What do you dislike about San Francisco? - MAYOR GAVIN NEWSOM! The people who follow Newsom and his "vision" of ridding the City of everything I love in its people and making it "family friendly" when out there a zillion other places exist specifically catering to parents with kids.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? - Lower Haight, Valencia Street

How expensive is it? - Too much, but worth it.

Is it safe? - Much more than some would think - if you dress down, and don't have a bad attitude about poor people or substance users, they WILL leave you alone! I've lived in the bad parts of town for 11 years and KNOW this.

How is the weather? - Unfortunately global warming is having its effect on all including us: it is destroying our famous fog, which hardly ever happens any more. It's also becoming much more polluted, like Los Angeles, even, in summer - in the hills and by the sea the air's better. There's still no place I'd rather live in the USA by far. Incidentally, though not actually weather per se, there ARE earthquakes, but not only am I unafraid of them I actually find them sort of sacred, proof the Earth is alive...

Additional thoughts? - There's a crowd of "one-percenters" (the 1% that have most of the wealth) who are trying to take over San Francisco and turn it into a Disneyland for rich tourists and super-rich residents, ousting all the poor which is a very dumb idea as the "Disneyland" tourists come here for will have been kicked out of town, people do not flock here to see the Golden Gate Bridge, they want to see the gay people, the acidheads, the pot clubs, and the general liberal tolerance and freedom. These things still exist here but if there's not more support for them they will not much longer. Plus, if the poor are ousted who's going to work the shit jobs? They're cutting their own nose to spite their face, so to speak. And ought to think twice about their campaigns to "clean up" the City. It's not THAT dirty...if you read the streets are full of excrement, it's lies put out by Newsom's campaign strategists.
