What do you like about Los Angeles? The weather and the close proximity to both the ocean and the mountains.

What do you dislike about Los Angeles? The very rude people and the traffic.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Hancock Park. The surrounding mountains.

How expensive is it? Not compared to, say, SF or NYC, but yes.

Is it safe? Compared to NYC and Philly, but no. The cops don't do their jobs, the judges are too liberal and the people are too apathetic to even bother to get to know their neighbors let alone help them.

How is the weather? Perfect.

Additional thoughts? It's not my first choice of places to live but the mountains, arts, and weather make it bearable.

What do you like about Los Angeles?
There is an endless variety of things to do; having just moved from the Boston area I would contrast L.A. as being less intellectual but definitely more cultural & diverse in its activities.
What do you dislike about Los Angeles?
Traffic/road rage! Also, individual facades are more elaborate here than any city I've ever visited/lived in. It can be difficult to form deep, meaningful relationships.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
I live very close to Long Beach, which is a very 20-something friendly city; the Santa Monica/Venice area is also really chill.
How expensive is it?
About the same as Massachusetts, but then, I live in one of the cheapest areas of Orange County. Nightlife in the O.C. & L.A. area is usually very hip & expensive; harder to find "divey" or "seedy" joints than Boston.
Is it safe?
I lived in in Brooklyn for a bit, & feel safer here than both NYC & some parts of Boston.
How is the weather?
73 degrees & sunny year round baby!
Additional thoughts?
The snobbery of many O.C. residents ain't got nuthin on Bostonians! Also, unless you seek them out, you won't be running into gang bangers all the time: they usually stay in the hood.
