What do you like about Little Rock? It is a friendly place with good places to shop and eat, lots of diverse nightlife and a wide variety of people. Contrary to popular belief, Little Rock does not have a lot of rednecks, but mostly professionals or college students. The public schools are mostly pretty good, as are the few museums we have.
What do you dislike about Little Rock? I feel that it is too spread out. You can get virtually anywhere in 20 minutes, but sometimes the traffic to those places is a bit busy, especially during the holidays
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? Hillcrest and the heights have great neighborhoods, the River Market is fun too. Chenal has some great shopping, but housing is too steep.
How expensive is it? Housing varies greatly from place to place. If you're in the midtown area, not too bad, but living in Southwest is cheap, and then living in Western LR (Chenal area) is really expensive.
Is it safe? For the most part, yes. However, it seems that anything south of I430 is less safe, especially at night, weekends, and when school's out. The safest areas are probably the outlying satellite towns such as Cammack Villiage, Chenal Valley, and Maumelle.
How is the weather? Winter is mild, with little snow, spring is great till the pollen gets you, summer is like a steam closet with scorching dry days interspersed. Fall is the best, after the highs get back into the low 80s to 70s.
Additional thoughts? If you are looking for an accepting city, we have people from all walks of life and ethnicities. There are growing populations of Latino and Asian people, as well as a new ethnic center and lots of asian and spanish market/groceries.
