What do you like about Phoenix? The weather, hot in the summer but this is the desert, it's supposed to be hot, I love it although the humidity goes up in mid July thru mid September. Fall is the best time of the year. Spring is nice too but can get windy at times and winter can get cold with sub freezing temps but it's way better than most places & it doesn't snow!
What do you dislike about Phoenix? Born here so I've seen the growth and there are too many people here now. Phoenix is the 5th or 6th largest city in the US now & the metro area is sprawled to enormous proportions. Also too many immigrants from south of the border who don't want to be Americans.... just use the system to their benefit
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? West & NW areas of the valley.... but the desert is the place to hang out
How expensive is it? That's relative isn't it?
Is it safe? Phoenix is a big city and there is crime here just like anyplace else. I've seen the numbers & statistics and the numbers are holding fairly steady with slight increases if any, and the percentages are dropping slightly. Considering more people move here every year that's a good indication that it's as safe here as anywhere & certainly safer than most other big cities. Bottom line don't base it on what you see on the 10 O'clock news... they have 22 minutes, have to make a profit & are biased
How is the weather? The best place to live in the lower 48 based on weather.... words like awesome, spectacular, incredible..... perfect? almost
Additional thoughts? The sunsets here are the best you'll see anywhere and the desert is unique, incredible & beautiful

What do you like about Phoenix?

The Social scene, and casual lifestyle.

What do you dislike about Phoenix?

The lack of positive cultural outlets. I.e. Symphonies or Museums as well as a void of any distinct culture per se.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?

Downtown Scottsdale is the best place for adults to socialize, Tempe for younger people. The only cultural/artistic part of town is Downtown Phoenix.

How expensive is it?

Getting more expensive as more people move here, home prices have skyrocketed by our (natives) standards. But it is still possible to have a good standard of living on a modest salary.

Is it safe?

Violent crimes / Theft, are statistically high, but can be avoided as they are usually concentrated in specific areas.

How is the weather?
Summer: Mid May to late Aug: Easy 100+
Spring: Mid March to mid May: Moderate (70's)Fall: Sept to Oct: Moderate (70's)
Winter: Oct. to mid March: 20's at night 50's during the day

Additional thoughts?

A very young city. No soul quite yet. Come only if youy LOVE the suburbs.
