What do you like about Hamilton?
I love the West End... anywhere from Locke St to MacMaster University. The downtown is ok... shopping is terrible though, library is great, and NO nitelife or art culture at all. The mountain is ok... until you get past Mohawk... way to many houses look alike.. with little or no character whatsoever.
What do you dislike about Hamilton?
WAAYYY to many low income or housing projects... and the homeless population seems really high
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
Westdale, Locke Street South and sometimes in the downtown core..
How expensive is it?
not too expensive... that's why I live in Hamilton... and I work in Toronto.
Is it safe?
Overall I feel it is safe.... YES
How is the weather?
Weather is normal
Additional thoughts?
Overall I do like hamilton... but if I wasn't living in the Locke Street area I probably wouldn't be living in Hamilton.

What do you like about Hamilton?

I like the weird people you see downtown. The people watching is great. I also like how the West end is so snobby, while the East and North ends are so blatantly ghetto. It's really quite funny.

What do you dislike about Hamilton?

How dirty it is, and the lack of artistic culture and night life. It's musical, but really low-class. I could also do without the crackheads downtown, and I wish people were more friendly. I wish you didn't get glared at by 75% of the people you smile at.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?

Downtown is my favorite. The buildings are cool, and there's a nice mix of people. The West end is gorgeous, but snobby enough to set my teeth on edge. I hate the mountain. Limeridge mall has become so commercial it's disgusting, and the houses in that area are so bland and repetitive. (Like a lot of the people...hehehe)

How expensive is it?

It's not very expensive. Unless you're in the West End.

Is it safe?

As long as you avoid making eye contact with crazy people and you don't walk downtown alone at night. . .there are worse cities and better cities, I guess. People get shot and knifed like in any other large city. *shrugs* It's gotten better.

How is the weather?

Due to the high levels of air pollution, we have some of the most beautiful and vibrant sunsets you'll ever see. We get hot summers, cool falls, snowy (looong) cold winters, and rainy springs, like most of Canada.

Additional thoughts?

I really don't like Hamilton. It doesn't have a lot to do, the people aren't friendly enough, and the main streets are confusing and one-way, changing names and switching sides from time to time. I don't like the people. I much prefer New York or Halifax.
