What do you like about Trier? It's the oldest city of Germany - over 2000 years old. Founded by the Romans! It's full of ancient buildings such as the Emperor Constantine's Basilica and the ancient city gate Porta Nigra (which is kinda the icon of Trier) and great culture. Also the birthplace of Karl Marx. Some of the world's finest wines are made in and around Trier (yes, not just Napa Valley makes great wine guys :) )
What do you dislike about Trier? The weather can be pretty rainy at times, summers are great with temperatures in the 80s/mid 90s; people might be a little introverted, but are usually very helpful to tourists.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in? The Palace Garden, the Rheinische Landesmuseum, Clubs: Forum, Casino
How expensive is it? average / fair
Is it safe? yes, pretty safe, even though some criminal statistics indicate that in the category of serious crimes, Trier ranks at # 2 after Frankfurt.
How is the weather? mild climate - nice springs and summers, mild/semi-cold winters, humid.
Additional thoughts? You gotta enjoy the view from the Petrisberg down to Trier. Beautiful.
