What do you like about Bilbao?
Pintxos which are little creative snacks that you get with your beer when you go out, the sea is close, and it is a pretty laid back city socially.
What do you dislike about Bilbao?
Things closed earlier than they do in other Spanish cities. The parts that were \"bad\" seemed like they were actually bad by my Chicago-bad-neighborhood radar standards.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
Casco Viejo, Abando
How expensive is it?
Some things were really cheap, and others really expensive. We went out with a pot of euros, each of us put in like 10, and we were able to go to 4 bars and have pintxos at all of them.
Is it safe?
As noted above, the good parts are as safe as anywhere else in Spain, but the bad parts gave me jitters more than any other place I've been in Spain.
How is the weather?
Perfect for me. A bit rainy and damp, but not too hot or too cold. I was there in Summer.
Additional thoughts?
It isn't as pretty a city as Donostia or Santander, but it has its charms.
