What do you like about Thessaloniki?
I like the social aspects of the city as well as the little quirks that can be found. I enjoy going to the market place that is filled with bargains and fragrances that entice the mind. I enjoy the night life as well as it is more than often fun.
What do you dislike about Thessaloniki?
The traffic and the dirty streets and pavements as well as the amount of stray anomals. I also believe that the city has somewhat lost it's appeal because of these detrimental effects such as that harbor polluting the Thermaikos Gulf.
What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
I particularly enjoy going to the market place as well as the area around the White Tower. I also enjoy walking around historic monuments. I really enjoy going into taverna's that sell traditional Greek food.
How expensive is it?
The prices have gone up conciderably since the change of currency from Drachmas to Euros but it is still quite cheap to live there.
Is it safe?
It is considerably safer than many other countries like the United Kingdom but still does have quite a few robbers mainly from places like Albania. There aren't as many cases of people being killed as other countries.
How is the weather?
The summers are very hot with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celcius. The winter is also quite cold because the city is in the northern part of Greece. Snow is always a possibility during the Winter but sometimes there is no snow at all.
Additional thoughts?
A great country to grow up in. I find the culture and social aspects of the country inspiring and often wish that I was Greek myself.
