What do you like about Leeds?
The occasional good record/book/junk shop. Lots of touring bands, quite a lot of young people. Beanos. It also has quite a lot of parks, which is always nice. Fuji Hiro is good food, as is little tokyo. The west Indian centre has regular, consistantly good nights (sub-dub, cabbage). The commonplace.
Leeds six in general is pretty fun.
The hifi club is probably the best pick for proper nightclubs.
Leeds city market on Kirkgate is enormous, but theyre trying to put it out of business because the people who own the stalls dont have fashionable haircuts, and you can buy clothes in there that people over 40 feel comfortable in. Ace place to shop and eat. Use it while its still there

What do you dislike about Leeds?
The bitter taste that mass-consumerism leaves in my mouth. There are too many teenage boys in their little sisters black jeans with wonky haircuts. angry, stupid men, drunk in white shirts and The yuppy pricks and their mandatory pink tees.
Wannabe gangsters (things are tough all over though!)
Not to mention the vast, impersonal, \"trendy\" high street outlets and duplicate coffee shops that litter every available space.
It's famous night life boils down to an assortment of tacky, homegenous \"scream\"-esque pubs, wine lodges, indie nights and \"superclubs\" (like supermarkets....) and it's \"capitol of the north\" shopping status can be summarized as 'boring people selling useless objects to boring people who think they need them'. a weird city largely inhabited by people pretending to be something they're not, or even scarier, not pretending to be like that at all.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
Hyde park in summer, tropical world, rothwell park, the brudenell social club.
Its fun to hang out near the canal, becasue despite being 2 minutes from the city centre, is completely dead. just a few smack-heads and shity looking men. Take a picnic!

How expensive is it? It used to be cheap, but then we got harvey nicks and loads of men in orange jackets who stop you from sitting down. Now its quite expensive. Although you can eat for cheap anywhere. The south of the city is really cheap, but coated in a layer of post-industrial grime and the least exciting place to live, ever.

Is it safe? If you're a student, no. You'll get burgled because you have lots of nice stuff and live in a fairly shit area. I wouldn't bother with potternewton park at night either. Its usually alright though. Leeds 10 is full of racists

How is the weather? fair to middlin'

Additional thoughts?

Take it or leave it. yuppies and 14 year old goths will love it. so will aggy carling drinkers and students. The abundance of call centre jobs will make you think you're middle class, despite earning 10grand a year for an agency and living in a back to back leedssix dump with a group of sweaty men.
